Testing, Testing - Do Not Adjust Your Free Video Recipe Blog

As you may have noticed, the formatting of the blog has changed. I am experimenting with different layouts, so you may see some strange and scary formatting on this blog for a few days. Since I have been trying to increase the monetization of the site I had to get rid of the giant green banner at the top as it was taking up too much space. The new layout also takes advantage of the wider screens people are using. Thank you for your patience!

Whew! I thought the worst had happened.

I am quite fond of the new layout -it looks neat on my 19 inch monitor.

Citronette - I am quite amazed that a simple salted and spiced up lemon juice can make a fairly stable oil emulsion-based dressing, without having any mayo added to it whatsoever(egg yolks in mayo are very powerful emulgators)

Regarding Emeril - he belongs to a Godfather movie IMHO, his show always reminds me the scene with Clemmenza teaching young Mikey boy how to make marinara spagetti sauce to serve 10 goons. Your last-year video is luckily nothing like that.

thanks! it the mustard in it that emulsifies it.

Not sure where you are in the construction faze, but the fonts and Food Wishes header need polish.
I like the wider/roomier approach, though. The trouble is with more room and more buttons & ads/etc. there is more confusion. I would suggest making sure that your daily vlogs, videos, and categories list really stand out and are identified. The buttons, ads, etc. come second. For some weird reason the new fonts and layout seem to run together and I can't define each day as separate from the next...
These are obviously just suggestions. Hey, I'm a musician and it beats hearing people "suggest" Free Bird all night!

I like the format so far, and look forward to seeing how it tweaks into place.

Suggestion: if you're focusing on monetization, you may want to take a good look through this guy's blog: http://www.problogger.net/

Not that you necessarily want your site to look like his, but he does have some great suggestions about format, content, placement and so forth. He knows what he's talking about, that's for sure.

Thanks for everyones suggestions. Unfortunately, the blogspot templates I'm using only gives you so many ways to format. Also, I just became a featured publisher on Foodbuzz and part of the deal is placing their stuff "above the fold

To be continued...

Thanks!

The upper background text: Try gray...it's more of a shadow effect, and doesn't blend in with the pots. A light gray will do.
