John the Chef Arrives in Las Vegas the City - No Signs of Joe the Plumber

I've arrived safe and sound after a short, uneventful flight from San Francisco. I almost won the airport shuttle drop-off challenge, which is a little reverse psychology game I play coming from the airport.

There were 14 people on my shuttle, all going to different hotels, and I pretend I win a huge cash prize if I'm the last one dropped off. But, it wasn't meant to be, as I was dropped off second to last. They never remember who finishes second in the imaginary airport shuttle drop-off challenge.

Here you can see my "please don't turn on that black light!" hotel room. It's actually looks very nice and clean (in natural light), and for the price of an all-you-can-eat buffet, I can’t complain. You can also see the lovely view from my hotel window. When they say "off the strip" they really mean it. Stay tuned!

The reverse psychology game I play is: every time I can't fall asleep, I tell myself firmly "Tonight I have to stay awake all night because someone is going to break into the house. I must stay awake to guard the house."
Then I fall asleep in minutes. Works like a charm every single time.

Hey, look at it this way. You don't have the terrible, and I do mean terrible traffic associated with the strip. Have fun in vegas! and remember, just because you may want what happens in vegas to stay in vegas, doesn't mean it ends up staying.

No sign of Joe the Plumber is a good thing. I once got a cheap hotel in NYC and Joe the Plumber did show up, to fix the fire sprinkler system that was ruining my evening.

Hey Chef John, the airport ride of "the last one to be dropped off" is the best: It's like your own limo :) I have another version of that same game, no prize though. It seems that at a counter, I'm always the last to be served or helped. The place will be empty, I get my request started on, a crowd builds up around me as I wait and then the people who came in after me clear out and I'm left still waiting to finish. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya! But I don't let it get to me.

The last time I went to Vegas, the shuttle driver wanted me to drive around with him. I passed on that.
