Next Up: Butternut Squash Mascarpone Gnocchi

This hastily captured shot was taken in the middle of some rather delicious fall dumpling experiments tonight, which hopefully will culminate in a fabulous new video recipe tomorrow. Stay tuned! UPDATE: Due to irate readers complaining about my horrible, late-night candid gnocchi test photo, I've replaced it with this one from the actual video. Enjoy!

i've been watching you a long time now ... sorry to be anonying but this is the first photo from you that i don't find appealing. The plate is dirty and even the fork, the wooden spoon is greasy :/ and the gnocci i'm sure it has a wonderful taste but the shape is really not that pretty and some not that brown... sorry for the bad english not from US

If you read the description youll see that this was not a final shot, but snapped during the process. It supposed to look unfinished. ;)

Hi Chef John,

I liked your in progress picture as it felt very real. Eye appeal is important, however what we do to prepare our plates is different than the experiments that we make in the kitchen. Maybe you should have wiped the plate first with a less than clean towel and then dribbled a few dots of stuff around like they do on so many cooking shows. Since I must make this myself, I am very happy to see your proceedure and great upcoming video. Thank You!
