Goodbye Mom

My mother, Pauline, passed away on Mothers Day. It was peaceful, and she was surrounded by family. She was the youngest 83 year-old you’d ever want to meet. I don’t have the time or energy to write a long, thoughtful post, but I did want to let you know what was going on, and how much I appreciate all the kind words, and expressions of support. It means more than you’ll ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. She was a great woman, and we all loved her very much. She will be missed.

Hi Chef,
I've watched and read your blog for years and made numerous of your recipes (99% fantastic and a few lousy on my screw-ups) but have never commented before. I'm 46 and lost my mom a year ago and felt compelled to take the time to sign up and write you a short note to say I know what you are going through and I'm very sorry for your loss. My wife says a guy never gets over the loss of his mom, like a girl with her dad. We wish you comfort and peace and happy memories.
Cheers,
Howard

John: You started cooking from watching your mom. I started cooking from watching you.
Because of your mom, you became the person you are. Because of you, I have become the person I am. Indirectly, she was my mom too.

John: My sincerest condolences. I'm 56 but lost my mother back on June 29th, 1991 to breast cancer. I remember the date so well because that's my birthday. Now every year I'm reminded of her death because of that but that's ok because she was also a fantastic mother. God Bless, Mark McGrail

Dear Chef John,

Today, on national strawberry rhubarb pie day, I came to your Mom's recipe, and as I was happily clicking on other links, I learned that you have lost your Mom on Mother's Day, no less. I am very sorry for your loss!

I gave you a shout-out, for what it's worth:
