The dish was a little hard to cut because I of course left the crust on since the bread is so narrow. Sorry Chef...didn't want to run to the store for a loaf of white bread. It was just a little tough. Next time I will def. use the white bread but this recipe is a keeper! The Mornay sauce I bet would be great to make scalloped potatoes...or over pasta...I could go on. Not heart healthy though but I definitely followed the recipe for everything else. Heavy cream is the way to go. The sauce was full of flavor! I always have Pecorino Romano in the house! Thank you for sharing your recipes Chef John. I have made many and loved them all!! Please don't stop sharing your recipes. I'm sure it's time consuming but a facebook page with your recipes would be awesome! Thank you! You did a pork cutlet aka schnitzel awhile back that was good. After visiting Germany I had a Schnitzel cordon bleu that was amazing. Wondering if you could incorporate that into a recipe? I know it’s basic and simple but you always seem to make even the basic and simple amazing! My attempt at it would probably be either too much of this or too much of that or just plain boring.Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09143747399486811951noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-25608442412807873222018-01-23T12:14:58.760-05:002018-01-23T12:14:58.760-05:00Hello Chef John; Like many, I have such success w...Hello Chef John; Like many, I have such success with your recipes! Currently it's a blistering hot 17.6 F which is a wonderful change from the -30ish Fahrenheit we had last week.

Your recipes have brought back many memories of my childhood, such as your version of goulash (which is currently on the stove). I grew up in Norway, and 2 things I am still looking for are as follows:

Boneless birds (sort of like rouladen, but there is some sort of fat or marrow cubes in the middle, and I am uncertain of the meat used as all I can remember is that beef was much more expensive than pork.

The other is a sausage called "medister". Typically it's pale or white in color, often poached/served in a sauce/gravy, but sometimes also simply placed in the roasting pan together with a pork rib roast for Christmas during the last bit of cooking time. Medister was also available as a farce at the local butchers for making patties/loaves or use in other dishes.

So, while the search continues for *my* holy grail of sorts, perhaps it might give you an idea for a video in the future, for when YOU are struggling with finding something "new" to write about.

kaptain_zerohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00071767980264115566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-71786678527602979622018-01-20T22:04:01.390-05:002018-01-20T22:04:01.390-05:00Looks awesome. I do have to tell you, in Kentucky, we pronounce Louisville as either Loo-uh-vul (three syllables), or Luh-vul (two syllables). I’m looking forward to hearing your revised pronunciation in the inevitable Derby Pie video!
