I do applaud your fearlessness when it comes to igniting a firestorm.

I have never understood why some people make the choice to eat cow, pig or chicken, but become sanctimonious when it comes to eating other animals (such as horse meat) or "cruel" foods (such as foie gras). Eating at all means the death of another (or many) organisms. I give the vegans respect for at least being consistent about their food choices.

That said, until the day you start cooking human, you aren't going to offend my food-related sensibilities (although rhubarb is a sin against nature). :)ghanimahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01352570120522373982noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-57417868917714027152009-08-16T21:33:56.342-04:002009-08-16T21:33:56.342-04:00I love fois gras and agree that (as with all meat ...I love fois gras and agree that (as with all meat production) more focus should made on promoting suppliers who treat the animals humanely and into shaming the rest out of business. It's hard to believe claims of wanting to "find out the truth" right after Bourdain indulges in vegan-bashing and, yep, name-calling.

Some points made in the video can be countered quite easily. For example, the vet argues that birds naturally deposit fat in their livers. But this does not mean that the extreme deposition of fat inherent in foie gras is natural. An observation that goes unmentioned in the video is the indoor, high-density living conditions of the birds. They certainly don't look anything near free-range to me, although I could be mistaken.

EU research has proven that "force feeding, as currently practised, is detrimental to the welfare of the birds". And the fact remains that many well-informed chefs choose not to work with foie gras.Tarabothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03730088261672473163noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-52241344100145925702009-08-16T04:01:42.821-04:002009-08-16T04:01:42.821-04:00Travel channel just showed "Bourdain's No...Travel channel just showed "Bourdain's No Reservations: SF" last week!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10900828972681765654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-42433929789302432102009-08-16T02:22:19.014-04:002009-08-16T02:22:19.014-04:00Hey, how about a sweetbreads demo?Hey, how about a sweetbreads demo?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-9546032323082578952009-08-16T02:09:28.920-04:002009-08-16T02:09:28.920-04:00How do you get edit the "Video Recipe Catergo...How do you get edit the "Video Recipe Catergories" on blogspot?Sherry C.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-21575091955126746852009-08-16T01:46:04.759-04:002009-08-16T01:46:04.759-04:00TaraBot please go away - liberate lobsters or som...TaraBot please go away - liberate lobsters or something, cause seriously, they don't deserve to be boiled alive and then buttered for our selfish gratification.milkshakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08188961610554710616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7173052990851751381.post-11774183104593444822009-08-16T00:57:27.395-04:002009-08-16T00:57:27.395-04:00Chef John!
