The Greatest Hamburger Commercial Ever Made…and NO it’s not that creepy “where the beef?” lady!

This weekend’s filler clip is a priceless relic from the early eighties featuring Jason Alexander, pre-George Costanza, singing and dancing about McDonalds greatest invention ever…the McDLT. Of course, put the lettuce and tomato in a separate compartment than the hot burger! Genius! Finally, the fatal flaw of fast food burgers was solved. No more limp and soggy veggies as the burger sat waiting for you to order it. Well, so much for that, apparently we like our burgers all wrapped up in one hot wilted bundle since the McDTL lasted about as long as Jason Alexander’s post-Seinfeld sitcom. The 2 pounds of Styrofoam it took to package it didn’t help much either. Enjoy!

Actually, the styrofoam containers were three and a half pounds each, and it is estimated that the distribution of the packaging materials for the McDonalds "McDLT" is entirely and solely responsible for the hole in the ozone layer and global warming.

I'm going to be thinking of this the next few times I watch Seinfeld. The best tasting lettuce and tomato hamburger ever!

This is fantastic. My girlfriend and I were just (like two days ago) talking about how absurd the McDLT was, but I didn't remember it was Jason Alexander in the spot. We were kids of the 80s so this brings us back. The styrofoam packaging was even worse than those old cd long boxes. Thanks!

My pleasure. lol, yeah what was the deal with those boxes?? why was half of it empty? ...sounds like an old Jerry Seinfeld routine. ah, the eighties...

I love this! I was young when the sandwich came out, but I remember eating one! My Aunt had to help me hold it together. It was so messy!! I love this commercial - some of the best dancing ever and those outfits! LOL!! Didja see the woman with the fannypack?! I LOVE THE 80s!! I miss this sandwich. :o) Thanks for digging up this video! I hear there was another one, with "color-coordinated" outfits? Red for the hot and blue for the cold? Anyone know where it can be found?

I havent heard of that one. let me know if you find it!

Actually the recycled styrofoam containers were used to make those hard plastic park benches and other items used in areas of conservation. It was cost analysis that ended the use of those styrofoam containers.

I prefer the Jack in the box commercial:
"My opponent is a milkshake hating extremist."
