Help Choose Our New Food Wishes Logo Design!

I'm very excited to announce that Food Wishes is getting a new logo! This is something I've wanted to do for years, and I'd love to get your opinion on which of these two designs you like better (btw, this is for the basic design only - colors will be explored after the final logo is chosen). So, take a look, then simply click your choice and vote in the poll below the images. Thank you for your help!

LOGO 1 - SWIRL DESIGN
LOGO 2 - STAR DESIGN

The swirl because it somehow replicates the motion of stirring. Still, I'm not THE biggest fan of either somehow.

This is one of my favorite places on The Internet. I enjoy the entertainment that goes along with the lessons. Keep doing what you do. :)

I like the swirl better, though it does remind me a bit of the old Daring Baker logo (seen here: http://www.dawnsrecipes.com/french-bread-a-la-home-depot-270.htm ). They don't use it any more, as far as I know, because they are now the Daring Kitchen. And I'm probably the only one to make that connection anyway. :)

Going by the votes, I think its gonna b the swirl design. In the first glance even I was gonna opt for the same but the stars make the spoon look like a magic wand and chef john grants food wishes so the star design makes more sense to me.

I think the swirls would be cuter if they were about the same size as the other 'o', like the stars are.

Glad to see that both potential logos make use of the freakishly small wooden spoon.
While I'm at it, I have a food wish Chef John, a few in fact...

1) The full English breakfast, love to see your take on this artery clogging classic.

2) A shepard's/cottage pie. ( I seem to recall that you might've already done this with frozen vegetables, but I might be talking out of my ass, either way you should give it another bash.)

Great site. cheers Chef John!

I know the swirl is winning ... but I think stars and wishes so go together ... you know, when you wish upon a star!! Guess you probably know which one I voted for!!?

Is that a freakishly small wooden spoon?

Chef John,

The swirl was my first and obvious choice. It simply looks a little better. But it is all about the food. Where are the wishes?

Ultimate the stars better convey both aspects of your site.

Either way, they both look great! Props to the designer.

I am not a fan of either logo, IMHO, they need a lot more work to actually represent what you and your brand is all about.

Swirl reminds me of spreading sauce onto pizza/etc. I vote for Swirl!

I understand the stars, but the swirls look better in this case. But I don't really like either design very much! Anyway, logo is not really important. Chef John, keep making the yummy and entertaining videos and we'll keep coming back!

I voted for the swirls but I agree - a site of your caliber should have a better logo. I'd recommend having a few freelance logo makers duke it out (logo bidding - a number of websites offer this). Good luck Chef John I really enjoy the site!

Where is the color in your new logo? I don't like either choice.

I like the swirl as the initial concept, but like others, feel that the logo needs a little more work to feel complete.

I both like and dislike that it is black and white only. This makes recoloring it to fit any scheme a lot easier to do. I dislike it for obvious reasons- it looks boring!

Anyway, my two cents.

Voted for the swirl but have to agree with people above...not to crazy about both of them, sorry!!

It would be way cooler if you included the freakishly small wooden spoon.

Hey Chief John,

Not Mad about either! Hate being negative, love your blog, have been following from the start.

I like the swirl better.. But I think either one of them are not as 'catchy' as you and your blog...

How about swirling stars. I like the swirl replicating mixing, but the stars are what feel like wishes so I think they need to be combined.

I voted swirl but am honestly pretty lukewarm to either.

From someone who makes these for a living, neither. Sorry.

If I am honest, the two options immediately reminded me of the Food Network logo. That said, your logo is not going to deter me from visiting your blog on a regular basis or from sharing it with all of my friends. Thank you for sharing all of your expertise.

Wow, I'm so in the minority! I prefer the stars because it makes me think of wishes. The swirl looks... cheap. Unlike a few of the comments here, I think they are good logos. Basic and to the point.

I would sure love another choice. I know you never give kids more than two choices at a time...

I'd like to see some free logo designs from the dissenters. Go swirl! The stars are too 4th of July.

At Monk's, Elaine discusses with Jerry how David Puddy used Jerry's "move" on her while they were having sex. While Jerry says he will prohibit Puddy from doing it anymore, Elaine rectifies saying she liked it and that it was not even the same one, as Jerry ended with a "swirl" and David with a "pinch".
I liked the "swirl"

Hi Chef John,

I love your vids and have made well over 10 of your receipes. In searching for some more good stuff to cook I notice that this video is not working on your site:

Spaghetti Al Tonno - Tuna…Hamburger of the Sea?

Could you please fix this, I'd love to try this receipe.

Thanks!

I also voted for the swirl but i agree with so many others, in that I'm not truly fond of either.

Stars remind me of "Bewitched" (yes, I'm old ... see my user name.)

Freakishly small spoon people: missing anything that would make you "get" that it is freakishly small.

The one with the swirl and the black spoon reminds me of the Blair witch project, (although I’m not sure why) the one with the stars makes me think you are joining the European Union which I strongly advise against. (at this present moment)

Whatever you do, I think you should replace the spoon with a spatula with a hole in it.

I remember seeing it in one of your videos and remembering how ridiculously awesome it was.

Reloadinger said...

Instead of the wooden spoon I would take a cayenne- pepper caster, but the spatula is also a good idea.

The spoon reminds me of the freakishly small wooden spoon! Logo (with swirl) looks great.

I like the swirl better.

It's supposed to be looking, top down, into a "stirred pot" with the spoon doing the stirring? If that's the case I might like to see that it is indeed a pot (or skillet) -- maybe a faint outline of the pot. I dunno, might be too much though.

The way it reads, to me, as it is now, the swirls are bit (just a bit) "outer limits" wavy kinda type thing.

I also like the idea of the spoon being a magic wand to make your "food wishes" come true. Maybe the glitter stars could swoosh off into the distance or something.

In any case, good luck with the new logo!

I think I understand the "stars" one, it's because "the food is the star"...
but I'll vote for the swirls one because it looks less tacky.
I agree with some of the others...get some more designs to choose from.

I'm not particularly fond of either (but voted for the swirl as I liked it the best out of the two). Have you considered enlisting the services of a graphic designer?

Thanks to everyone for your input!! For those of you offering help or asking about the designer...this is being done for me by the design team at allrecipes, so we are all set. Thanks!!

I seriously think the star design should win because its called " Food wishes" and you know the saying "wish upon a star". Ya see where im going here? Stars and wishes go hand in hand.
