I’m (almost) Back!

Today is the last day of my vacation, and I'm sorry, but I just couldn’t not post any longer. So, I wanted to say a quick hello, and thank everyone who sent along their well-wishes during the break. By the way, I loved seeing the pictures many of you posted on Twitter and Instagram of our Thanksgiving recipes!

Unfortunately, I didn’t get a chance to golf as I'd planned, but I did keep myself busy with a few fun projects around the house. One of those projects was definitely not an awesome and illegal pizza oven built from a pile of bricks found in the garden (not pictured here). Nope, that didn’t happen.

Anyway, I’ll have a brand new video recipe tomorrow, so be sure to stay tuned for that, and as always…I missed you!

Excited for your return. I hope that
you do "NOT" show a brick oven pizza recipe that you did "NOT" bake in an illegal brick oven. *wink, wink*

I would love to not have a brick oven from the bricks that are not in my back yard. Suspense. Stupendous!

NOT building an illegal brick oven in your back yard is probably one of the most relaxing things a fellow could do.
I find the older I get the longer my 'Don't do' list gets & the more relaxed I feel! I am starting on page three of the list.
Welcome back, we all love your work.

Welcome Back Chef John!! I just wanted to thank you for all the recipes that you post. We just have our first Thanksgiving as a newly married couple, and i used all of you recipes for our dinner and it wouldn't have been possible without your expertise and recipes :)

So glad your back, you were missed. My husband and I went to mom's for Thanksgiving. I had prepared some food at my home so mom wouldn't have to do so much cooking. When we got there Wednesday afternoon I turned the stove on and put in your buffalo chicken dip so it would be ready for people coming in that evening. 20 minutes later I went to check it and we had not even realized the stove hadn't heated up! Are you kidding me?! Thanksgiving Eve and the stove went out! We checked and did still have the top burners AND the broiler worked. So we were thankful. Also my brother lives across the yard and we could use his stove.

The next day the the bird cooked at my brothers without any problems and it was beautiful. I'm trying to heat up the sides in the broiler and everything is going pretty good. I made your recipe for cream biscuits and mom took them to my brothers to cook. I didn't know they had spilled turkey juice in the bottom of the oven taking the turkey out. Mom comes back with biscuits still on sheet pans not cooked. Apparently when the stove was turned to a high heat to cook the biscuits it started smoking, lol my brother thought he had cleaned most of the drippings from the stove....The first thing he thought to do was throw a dish towel on it....I was told that there was a huge "WHOOOSH" and his stove caught on fire! (Everyone was fine, and they got the fire put out!)

Well, believe it or not Chef John you can broil your cream biscuits. Just make sure to flip those suckers over! Lol AND my mom who doesn't care all that much for bread sat and waited patiently at the dinner table while the 2nd batch "broiled" so she could have a hot one! They were devine!

There were other recipes of yours I made and everything was great. As my husband and I sat back in our bed the next night, he with a big slice of pumpkin pie in his hand (his favorite dessert) I ask him if he liked it better than my old recipe. His head started nodding slowly......I waited...."this is really good pumpkin pie, the best I ever ate." TOUCHDOWN!!! By the way, did you notice it didn't have a crack in it!! ;)

Ok, I'm curious, what would make a pizza stove illegal? The hot temps?
