Good and Gooder

Hello there! I wanted to share two cellphone shots I took this weekend, along with a couple of announcements. When I posted our watermelon agua fresca video last week, I got a bunch of comments on YouTube saying that cantaloupe makes an even better one. So, I had to immediately test one out, and...it's a tie. Both melons make marvelous agua frescas!

Also, I've started playing around with the "cronut." This croissant/doughnut hybrid has all the food fetishists in a tizzy, and I was encouraged by this first attempt. Not sure exactly when it might make its official appearance, but stay tuned!

Hi Chef,

Are the proportion equals for both watermelon and cantaloupe ? Does Cantaloupe gives less water than watermelon...?

YOU'RE FIGURING OUT THE CRONUT!!! ::head explodes::

That's going to be an instant million pageview post. Unfortunately I'm going on a gluten free diet on Monday and won't be able to try it anytime soon... :-(

As my going out dinner, I'm making the Chicken Pork Cutlets, Garlic Dinner Rolls, Green Bean Almandine recipes tonight!

Not as watery as watermelon, but this is not an exact science. ;) you can use about the sane.

As one of many, I'm sure, cronut food wishers, I say awesome, thanks for tackling this, and can't wait! Grateful that multiple test batches are lurking on your countertop, and not mine.

Hello Chef John

Could you give us the recipe for the cantaloupe fresca please?

Greets from Holland.

It's the exact same recipe as the watermelon agua fresca!

Except for that watermelon part :)

Chef, for the agua fresca I do something very similar, but instead of water I use white wine. Best sangria ever. I've used both watermelon and honeydew and they're both fantastic this way.

Nothing gooder than a donut or a croissant. Combining the two would make it even gooder. If you come up with a great recipe it would be that much gooder. Of course, what would really be gooder is if you invited all of us over and made them. :p

This sounds wonderful but I'm going to try peach agua fresca for my Women's gathering; I already have watermelon on the menu. Maybe pump it up with a dash of lime juice.
