Keeping it Real with Nina Planck

This is food writer Nina Planck talking about her book, Real Food, in which she makes the case for real food. She basically has the same general philosophy about eating as I do; eat when you're hungry, and eat what you feel like eating - as long as it's real, freshly cooked, unprocessed food. Pretty simple, but it does require you to have some basic cooking skills. Good thing you read this blog religiously.

The other cool thing about Nina, is she used to be a vegan, but came back over to our team! Go fightin' omnivores, go! If you are interested in the book, click on the photo and check it out over on Amazon.

for east asian cusine, if you dont use corn oil, what sort of oil will be more recommended?

i would do some research online, but I prefer a high-quality canola oil to corn oil.

Not sure, myself, my family having lived in the country and eaten "old fashion" food with fresh produce, most of them have had heart/diabetes issues, because they abused it in the end. i reckon butter and stuff is not that bad for you, but you cannot indulge in butter on every meal or use this book as an excuse to increaser your fat intake and then not exercise or burn it off.

yes, of course, staying active is just as critical.

Thanks so much for posting this - I will definitely be checking it out further. I was our strawberry picking today and learning about the "slow food movement" from a friend (to counter "fast foods"). All very interesting, thought provoking, and action inspiring...
