This is "Meat Salad" from the YouTube channel, Epic Meal Time. I would LOVE to know what you think. Enjoy! UPDATE: We have an official Vegan response video below!

This made me laugh, it also reminded me of a friend who once said "Just because a vegetable doesn't scream doesn't mean it doesn't feel pain" that was his excuse for not begin a vegetarian, to save the vegetable lol. So it reminded me of him, but I don't think I would care for the "beer" on everything considering I don't like beer. Otherwise I'd eat a nice portion of it....on a bed of lettuce at the very least with at least Ranch or something on it.
You realise that a bunch of like-minded vegans are probably working on a vegan "barbeque/mix grill" video in response. Please look out post it if you find it.:)
I'm subscribed to their channel, so I familiar with their "work". I have to say I never watched any of their videos so early in the morning. Made me a bit sick this time!
This video was truly funny, but actually had some culinary perks! They did everything correctly imho - with the exception of having not seared that ham a bit. Is it wrong to scratch and spit while watching a cooking video? It made me feel very manly :p real man food! caveman's delight!
Hi chef John i'm a huge fan of your videos so i really apreciate that you like to show us what you like on the internet but when i come to your site i hope to see YOUR video not somebody elses i think you can just quote this videos on the comments of YOUR video :) []'s from a fan of YOUR video
Someone else said its just a waste of time.... and they're correct but thats exactly why they produce those videos. The 170,000 subscribers to EpicMealTime (including me) are having a ball wasting our time on their videos :>
when i think of all that food being wasted by a few idiots making a video that really isn't funny kinda sad really.
I enjoy most of your videos but I would much rather see good recipes or vids that may help parents feed there kids healthy quick meals then a bunch of frat boys trying to be funny.
I think these guys are very creative, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. I posted because I wanted to hear what you think.
This was a Sunday post (i have a new Monday post going up shortly), I usually never post new vids on the weekend, so to the few people whining about only wanting to see my videos; thanks, but why not simply not watch the non-CJ videos? Would you really prefer no post at all on the weekend.
One of the joys of publishing your own blog is getting to post what you want, when you want. It never fails to amaze me when people complain about what I post.
You said You would LOVE to know what we think, so that is what I did. I realize that its your blog and wasn't trying to offend you in any way so if it was taken as such I appoligies.
I wasn't as you say complaining though, I was simply saying that I enjoy you recipe videos more then the ones posted today is all.
Continue To produce the wonderful recipes that you do and you will always have a fan in me for what it's worth.
Yuck. These kinds of culinary train-wreck videos are all the rage on Reddit, but few of the posters and even fewer of the readers understand that a cheeseburger-topped pizza is meant to be funny, not eaten. As such I've developed a very strong aversion to these types of videos.
Thankfully I stumbled upon your sourdough series yesterday and am looking forward to some delicious bread, so consider yourself forgiven Chef John. THIS TIME. ;-)
Oh and let me qualify my "don't like" vote, because I hadn't read the other comments and didn't realize this had become a bit of a "thing."
> One of the joys of publishing your own blog is getting to post what you want, when you want.
YES. And one of the great things about following a free blog is that anyone who doesn't like what you post can get their money back at any time. Look, I just got my refund! Yay!
Chef John, you should check out http://www.youtube.com/user/SwedishMealTime I don't know them, I just think it's just as stupid/hilarous as the posted videos. Tarzan meets cooking or something.
Honestly I felt offended by the video because living in a not-so-rich country like the Philippines or other countries where food is scant and somewhat expensive, and given the world financial crisis, I would say that this video is in bad taste. Just thinking out load... Sorry if I burst the humor on this.
These kids are not making a statement, and in my opinion, are simply looking for attention. It seems they are a bit cynical, and perhaps should devote themselves to some sort of moral cause.
I also think many meat lovers will use this video to make themselves feel justified in eating meat. Further, it looks as if they are making fun of vegetarians, in addition to this new haute-"cooking" culture that started with "Top Chef", and which is being carried on by that mostly ridiculous "food" network, or as I just renamed it "stupid reality T.V. with food in it".
Granted, Tofu Turkey is sort of ridiculous, and nobody should take themselves too seriously, but the world is not a better place in any way by their contribution to human and animal kind alike.
I think some of you may be over-thinking this. These guys are trying to make money. These things are getting a million views. That's big money on YouTube. Like i said, I'm not a fan, but they have found a formula that works as far as people emailing this to their friends.
That Vegan Video was really stupid... not nearly as entertaining as the meat-salad. I was almost vegan vegitarian for 3 years and no vegan i know eats that much garbage in that way, nor do they abuse soja sauce. Baked Gingerroot like that would be almost impossible to eat...
but thanks for the post! i've not seen anything this entertaining in a wacky way in a while :D
Sheesh, people are uptight. Obviously the Epic Meal Time videos are for fun, to get hits, to maybe make some $. They are for entertainment purposes only.
Chef John teaches us handfuls of useful cooking nuggets every week, so you are going to repay him by complaining about what he's posting on his non-cooking video days? Give me a break.
I went back and looked and saw that this was a concept of making fun of people and cooking shows. I had never heard of this before, and only watched the vegan video. I assumed it was just more kids making fun of vegetarians the same way some conservatives make fun of "tree hugging liberals". Lesson learned: Don't assume. Chef John asked for our thoughts...I should have watched both to understand the concept more before commenting. My apologies.
The people on epic mealtime are a bunch of goof balls. Their shows are great and some of the stuff they make looks really good. It is truly amazing how many stuck up old fuddy duddies there are posting about the starving people when the fast food joints and grocery stores throw tons of stuff away. I say go for it and have some fun! Thats what it's all about anyway. right

Hysterical genius. I want the beer bacon dressing recipe. In fact, I think I might just wing it tomorrow.

Every Tuesday I like to give myself a heart attack by watching their vids. Pure awesome.
This looks like a great low-carb recipe.
I would prefer that the beef be either rare or raw, if it is as lean as it looks. Fat beef should be warm and the drippings should be incorporated.
The salad would also be super with a Caesar dressing, made the right way with things like raw eggs, anchovies, garlic, and Parmesan.

It's a Tailgate Party in a Dish!
Hahaha!! I saw this video earlier. This, along with their other videos also made me laugh like there was no tomorrow.
Everything looked so good until they added cubed ham... what the???

Think you could perk this up a bit, John?

A waste of time.
This is a waste of time. Please post some real food we can enjoy.
As Farmer Vincent once said, "Meat's meat and man's gotta eat."
Wow. That could turn an omnivore like me into a vegetarian overnight.
I'm reminded of a friend as well, who used to say that if it wasn't meat, it wasn't a meal. He died of a heart attack last year.
EWWWWW....
Someone else said its just a waste of time.... and they're correct but thats exactly why they produce those videos. The 170,000 subscribers to EpicMealTime (including me) are having a ball wasting our time on their videos :>
I'm already subscribed to their channel on youtube, and while it's not quite a... 'recipe' It's great for a good laugh once a week.
Besides, I'm sure almost everyone can vouch for some deep, dark part of themselves wanting to make beer bacon dressing now.
speaking of a vegetarian response :

:P
Waste of time!? Sounds like somebody put on their crabby pants this morning.
I was hoping this would somehow involve a salad shooter or spinner. Nevertheless, two minutes well spent. Thanks for sharing Chef!
Have to agree with "Guat", just want to see your videos. I can browse youtube myself...

Okay, a few things:

As a girl who can kill a 22 ounce sirloin on a whim, I love my protein. I'd never thought I'd hear myself say that I'd rather eat the vegan option. :P

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I wanted to know what people though about this unusual and disturbing video, not my posting tendancies.
I would certainly hope people would prefer one of my original videos to these 3rd party ones!

well, if we're gonna make this about John's posts then I'll say that I enjoy the little extras like this. Why whine about it?
The meat one was fine. I felt really sick after watching the vegan one. That is just nasty...

Lol:) Simply, and stupidly ridiculous...
But I would like to know.. Do they taste good..at all..?
This must be the most disgustingly awesome thing I've ever seen!
Hilarious post. Love your blog, keep up the good work.
