It's National Grilled Cheese Day!

...or at least that's what I heard on Twitter today. Who decides these things, and how do they pick the day? Don't know, and don't care, because it give me an excuse to post our famous Inside-Out Grilled Cheese Sandwich! Follow this link to read the original post, and as always, enjoy!

Awesome stoner meal!

I've made this before (after watching the first video), and it's always a big hit. Especially paired with some Campbell's condensed tomato soup made using whole milk instead of water.

Personally, I like to add a little swiss cheese (about 1pt swiss to 2pts cheddar) to the mix. As always, YMMV.

I think, Chef John, that you should try grilled cheese with the Tillamook Garlic White Cheddar... it's all kinds of amazing.

It smells like a Cheez-it. What have you created!? It's dangerous.

Made this too from your 1st video. Love it!

Made this last night with a fried egg in the middle. It's become a dorm room staple. Mmm.

Chef John, its hard to deny the obvious - you are a genius.

Also, have you ever tried to sneak a thin slice of ham in between? If not I will try it myself and report back.

Chef John & milkshaken ..

I've tried this with a thin slice of smoked turkey breast added to the cheese.

I also experimented adding diced chicken, which was previously pan fried.

My wife and kids fell in love with them.

Where I live in Italy we can't get Wonder bread or cheddar cheese. However, I live in Piemonte not too far from the little town of Bra where they produce Bra Duro, a fantastic cheese similar to cheddar, but it puts most cheddar to shame.

I made this sandwich for lunch using Bra Duro and sliced Ciabatta bread made with your no knead recipe. Fantastic!

I hope I'm not the only person who gleefully ran off to the kitchen to make a grilled cheese sandwich after seeing your post. It's becoming a version of the drinking games: see a recipe, eat that food or some kind of ingredient involved with the recipe...

Ever thought of using mayo on your bread? One of my friends told me that her grandmother spreads mayo on the bread before grilling it so it gives it a more rich flavor. Just a thought. I've never tried it so i don't know how it tastes, but my friend swore she's never had better tasting grilled cheese than her grandma's but of course it could be her being a bit bias.
