Spring Train-ing 2009

Here is a quickly edited presentation of highlights from my recently concluded trip down to Arizona for spring training. If you are a real glutton for travel photos, I've uploaded the full set which you can see by following this link.

I'm heading into the kitchen to work on what I hope is a stunning spring vegetable pasta. I should have it up tomorrow. Enjoy!

Philippes has been a favorite for generations. Their claim to fame is to have originated the beef dip sandwich. Always worth a stop.

But then so is Olvera Street. The carnitas looked great!

Oh my God, Philippes has the best mustard! I always buy a lot of it whenever I go to Los Angeles.

Why do people feed each other? My Mom had a boyfriend who did this, but he was heavy handed. Instead of delicately placing an amuse busche he almost 'force fed' my poor Mother. Not a pretty site! It didn't last and I am not sure if the latter was the reason for the demise?

You are entertaining Chef, and boy do I look forward to your video's!

Chef John,

Looks like a fun trip. Baseball food and nice weather, it doesn't get any better.

Regarding the chilaquiles, I have made them based on a recipe by Daisy Martinez and they are awesome. I'm looking forward to your version. It's funny because I was thinking that it was about time for another batch.....

Now I SO want to do that trip! And I am not even that big a baseball fan.

That is some real lean cuisine :)

Kind regards from Sweden!
