Pop Fewer Buttons this Holiday with a Few Tips from Snack Girl

My friend Lisa from Snack Girl sent me this short video with some of her holiday party survival techniques. Apparently my "eat as much as you can at the beginning of the party to stretch your stomach" strategy is not the best approach! For more info, you can check out Lisa's website (warning: she a Ph.D., so watch your grammar).

As a person who struggles with weight, and as someone who has successfully battled bulge, I know that those are good tips. Gum helps, as well.

Sometimes it helps to just eat something really healthy and filling, I'm talking an actual meal, before you go.

I did that before a party, and ate scoop of beans, some salsa, a little rice, and a cookie from a Mexican food buffet. It totally worked!

Step 1: check, I can do that.

Step 2: I like this part best! Filling my plate with whatever I want without worries about the calories is what I usually do anyway. So far so good.

Step 3: Eat a mint and FORGET the buffet? Uhm ... not so much. How in the world do you forget something that whispers, cajoles, and eventually screams your name out-loud?

I've forgotten where I put my cell phone, where I parked, I've even forgotten important dates ... but I've NEVER once forgotten about yummy food when it's out and available.

I remember reading that when you brush your teeth your body associates it with the fact you are done eating sending the "I'm full" signal.

Maybe the mint has some sort of similar effect.
