Looks like friend of the site, Rickey Galloway, had some great results with the no-knead bread recipe! If you make it, please send in a photo (or link) and I will make your loaf famous also. Enjoy!
I made it but there's nothing left! I took it to a friend's house for dinner so there is nothing left to take a picture of and I REALLY wanted some of it for that wonderful looking French toast. So, I'm gonna make another right now. Thanks for this great and easy recipe!
Thanks for making this look so easy! It was really easy and the only picture would be a plate of crumbs. I plan to make another (regular) loaf this week! Gracias!
I made a sourdough version that was GREAT! Sourdough is by far my favorite bread. You can see pictures here: My No Knead Sourdough http://knitwithmeonline.blogspot.com/search/label/no%20knead%20bread It came out beautiful and it was delicious! I have also made cinnamon and raisin, garlic and cheese and of course, just plain. They are all all awesome
I tried making 2 at once this past weekend and they weren't as crusty. I used the cast iron dutch ovens and preheated for 30 minutes. That much metal, plus my stones in the oven, I didn't figure they'd lose so much heat and the baking time would be the same. It isn't.
Everyone still raved about the bread, but I knew it wasn't as good as I had made it. Next time I try two at once, I may take it to an hour.
Well Chef John, looks like you have succeeded in spreading the bread craze. If anyone is interested it trying this bread done in a cast iron pot but needs the right pot - look at Ikea for the SENIOR Casserole with lid for $40 - blue enamelled on the outside. It is the perfect size for a single loaf and the knob on the lid is cast iron as well so you will not damage it.
I have made a lot of this bread using various combinations of flours. I really believe that adding 1 tsp. lemon juice will help your bread to rise higher if you are using any percentage of whole wheat or mulitgrain flour. It works well for me.
I made this bread and the texture wasn't right. It was much denser because I think my dough was too dry. It went down really well all the same. I made it for a picnic and everyone is impressed when you roll up with homemade bread!! That's what's great about these no knead recipes, all the hard work is done overnight while you're sleeping!! LOL. Will make it again.

That turned out great looking.
mmmmm..... thanks. my family will be really interested in this.
I'm going to give this a shot today. Aside from pumpkin Chef, any other "flavoring" ideas?
almost anything will work, olives, walnuts, herbs, etc.

Can I use 2 cups wheat and 1 cup white flour?
oh yeah, any combo of wheat-white will work.
