Will a Change in the White House Mean the Return of America's Garden?
This animated video is from the folks at "Eat the View," a campaign to return some of the White House's lawn back into a fruit and vegetable garden, like our early presidents maintained and enjoyed. As we all face the tough times ahead, let's hope that one silver lining is the rebirth of "victory gardens."

I doubt it, but he was quoted as saying that he'd replace the WH bowling alley with a basketball court.
You would think the President could get both. But, I'd have to go with the bowling alley...I have no game.
Incidentally, San Fran boasts a pretty cool new victory garden in front of it's City Hall.

I'm currently reading The Omnivore's Dilemma. I bought Pollin's books based on a couple of videos you posted IIRC. I was interested to see that he had written a rather lengthy article to the future President for the Times. The subject was food reform.
It was a fairly in-depth article, and made many very good points, the victory garden being one. If Obama even begins to think about some of those points and changes policy toward them, it would be a great thing. But I think he has seemingly more important problems on the table. The food issue just hasn't reared it terrible head in a public enough way yet.
Also Vito Corleone had a vegetable garden in his New York mansion and it did him much good in his retirement; he collapsed amongst his tomatoes playing with a grandson - the way to go.
Now contrast this with the grim soul-lessnes of Michael Corleone stately mansion by Lake Tahoe in Nevada: No fresh tomatoes, no happiness, no family.
