I'd like to wish all you Moms out there a very happy Mother's Day tomorrow. A special shout out to my mother Pauline (you may remember her from such videos as, "Key Lime Pie" – see below), I love you, miss you, and hope to see you soon! And of course to my mother-in-law, Peggy, who, from the very beginning was the blog's fairy godmother.
If some of you are still looking for a gift, here's a neat trick for turning an ice cream cake into an edible potted plant! I encourage you to read the original post from a few years back for more information. Enjoy your day!!
This potted plant was inspired by a post on The Pioneer Woman. Thanks!

sorry chef john, cant watch your video in switzerland!!! :(
that's a YT thing. I don't control that. No idea why that happens sometimes! Go to original post to watch.
I can see where you get your "touch" from chef John!
Love the conversation between you and your mom :-)
Do you have any more videos with your mom?
Dorothea
Can't view it in Canada ...booo
I remember the potted plant video. But youtube is making me pay 99 cents now to "rent" the video and be able to watch it for 24 hours?
Never seen that before on a user video.
For some reason the potted plant video says that I have to "rent" it for $.99 to watch the whole thing.
Oops!!! I think it's fixed!
Same problem, here in Mexico can't watch original or Youtube version- but this is the first time that has happened, so maybe either a change in Youtube or a change in your upload? weird.
Now it's private! You're hogging dessert, John! :)
It's telling me that the video is private :(
try again! thanks!
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! love the potted pot ice cream idea. i'll be sure to use your mom's key lime pie!
Hugs - right back at ya!
Thanks Chef John and Pauline, I loved this video ^.^ I really want to give it a go :)
Thank you chef John! We made this for my mother in-law, she loved it^_^
Thanks for the recipe. Since the salmonella scare with eggs a while back, I haven't made key lime pie for a long time. Seeing you bake it has inspired me to make it again. BTW, real Key lime pie is yellow, not green. Ask any native Floridian.
For the Key Lime Pie crust, can I use the Pillsbury Pie crust that you used for your apple pie recipe? Will it taste just as good? I'm just lazy.
I love you Chef John!! Your recipes have always been a real inspiration! wish u aaaall the best . Greetings from Morooco <3:)
I am a Food Wishes junkie. I loved the potted plant video! Here is a suggestion....I once had individual breads baked in small clay pots. They were cute and yummy. Maria from Windsor, ON
For whatever reason, it says the potted plant video isn't available in the United States?
