If this recipe looks familiar, there may be a good reason for that. This easy Orzo with Chicken and Asiago recipe is from the website myrecipes.com, which is published by Time Inc., the creative force behind all those cooking magazines you thumb through while standing in line at the grocery store.
Time Inc., which publishes the popular periodicals Southern Living, Cooking Light, Sunset, and Real Simple, recently contacted me regarding there new recipe website. They asked me to check it out to see what I thought.
I decided to surf the site as if I was looking for an easy weeknight dinner recipe. I found this Orzo with Chicken and Asiago recipe and decided to give it a try, pretty much as printed. It came out very well, which for many recipes printed online, is a rarity.
I really like how the site is organized, and I encourage you to check it out. I may actually be doing some guest blogging for myrecipes.com, and hopefully I can eventually publish some videos for them.
So, check out this recipe, and for the full, written recipe with ingredients, go to myrecipes.com. Tell’em Chef John sent you. Enjoy!

As you said:
"If you can't do that, you probably don't know how to use a computer so..." Exploded in laughs so loud I had to wipe off saliva drops from my screen... More seriously it inspires me about finding the perfect match for a white wine. Encore !
You have magical powers. If I were to browse the myrecipe site on my own and look at a recipe like this I would probably not give it a second thought. But if Chef John says it is good and worth a try then it must be true. After devoutly following your video blog for over a year you have definitely earned my trust.

Was there a particular reason you deviated from the "saute the meat first" thing? Does it taste better without the saute process?
Does it get easier than this? Thanks for such a quick meal idea. This will come in handy.
if you can't cut a chicken breast, then you probably wouldn't be using the computer so it wouldn't matter...
LOL!
Hi Chef---nice recipe and is very very similar to one I learned to make as a kid using rice or risotto. I guess it was a first dish I learned cause its so easy. I use chopped chicken thighs for that extra chickeny flavor. Is chickeny a word? :) Haven't made that dish in a while and now you have me hungry for this and I shall try your version. Comfort food and a chicken dish for when you have a sniffle or cold or are just feeling down or sad. A pick me up mood enhancer for sure and I need one. Thanks for this reminder!
yes, you've learned well, browning the chicken is always a good idea, but I wanted to follow the recipe as is, and it is designed as a simple, minimal steps recipe.
This looks pretty simple, I might even try it! As long as I can find those thin, small pasta things..
But does the chicken get properly cooked in only 12 miniutes?
And can I use grated parmesan instead of that other one or is no cheese better then parmesan?
And if I use "fresh pees that are frozen" do I need to defrost them? OR will the heat do it?
Sorry for all the question's :P

enjoy!
Nice... I am sorry I have been absent from your site for too long. I am glad to see it is still the best. So good you inspired me to start my own blog last November, which is my lame excuse for staying a way so long. Please check it out. It took me a while to get my "legs" but I am proud enough of it to ask you to take a look. Thanks GREG www.sippitysup.com
cool, good luck!
bwahahaha...good stuffin! "if you don´t even know how to cut up a chicken breast you probably don't even know how to use a computer,so..." SKÁL (cheers!) from Iceland!

Chef, What I like best with you is you seem completely at ease, as evidenced by your subtle humor. It is so different from the straitjacketed video recipes found elsewhere (near and far included). Today's best was the 'fresh peas... which were frozen' line, so swamped by the attention the computer comment got!
Thanks you for all the recipentertainment!
thank you!
Your videos make following recipes so much easier. Thanks, and I hope they paid you well for your time :)

Looks great! Congratulations on your Southern Living coup!
Yum, that's awesome, I looooove asiago!
Dude, your site rules. Like someone else said...I would never had tried this from browsing their website without your video. Made this dish tonight and my 2 year old loved it. I didn't have asiago, sub'd with romano and I also added some mushrooms. What an awesome quick dinner. It is now on the list. Thanks!
recipe is pulled from the original site. Can you remember the amounts? Have made this several times and is easy and tasty. I think I remember the amounts but not sure. Newbies would also like to know

This was so freaking delicious! HOWEVER, I used left-over panko breaded chicken breasts I'd fried up the day before and fresh parmesan. Thank you so much for making this video!!!
