Good News, Bad News, Good News from Hollywood

Photo (c) bdearth
The good news is that everything is on schedule and going great down here in Hollywood. The bad news is that the next few days are dawn to dusk television production insanity, and there will no time to post anything, not even one of my lame re-runs.

The good news is that when I get back to San Francisco on Tuesday, my schedule is finally clear, and I'll have nothing to do except film video recipes – and believe me, I have quite an impressive list of dishes to share. Stay tuned!

Hey man don’t sweat it. I haven’t tried all of the different recipes on this site yet, so a little breather might give me a chance to catch up!

I must say that EVERYTHING that I have made from your site has been AMAZING. I am planning my families weekly dinners off your site. Love your stuff. And glad to hear all the positive stuff going on with your current endeavors. I have one request though can you make a few videos for jamacian meals? I have visted the island a few times and the food there is to die for. Thanks in advance Chef John!

Chef, Hope your having a good time down in LA. We miss you here in the city. By the way last night I made your fathers day garlic steak except I used a kobie london broil. Excelent garlic oil rub. Again you brought a wonderful night to my home. I'll waiting for whats next.

Sounds good John, looking forward to it.

The quality of your blog has gone down quite a bit the past year - with fewer and fewer recipes and seemingly re-run after re-run.

I'm glad to see you have success and spread your pashion for food to the wider audience (and absolutely understand that you gotta make a living too) - but at the same time I am hoping you don't lose yourself completely and forget about the blog in all the fame, travel, fancy dinners, books, tv-shows and so on.

As a follower of this blog I've frankly been feeling a little let down lately - and as a result I unfortunately visit it far less often than I used to.

I'm sure you don't like hearing this - but I hope you can see it from a readers perspective as well. We obviously don't have the right to "expect" anything from you - but I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that we miss having you as a regular source of inspiration. :)

Sieve,

Yes, you are correct, I don't like hearing that... since it's so inappropriate. What you don't understand is these projects that pull me away, and result in no new videos for a few days are the reason I'm ultimately able to keep doing a free video recipe blog, which features the most new content than any other source.

If you were paying a subscription, you may have a point. But you don't. I'm a "if you don't have something good to say, don't say anything at all" kind of guy. I'd prefer if my viewers who feel let down would suffer in silence.

Thanks for watching, and for your more positive remarks.

I was tending to agree with Sieve until I read your incisive comments.

I had a friend who was a DJ on the local FM station, and when someone would complain, he'd just say, "Hey, let me give you your money back."

That little voice in my head says “let it go” but I want to say something.

The diversity, originality, quantity and quality of cooking videos on Food Wishes are astounding. I have viewed thousands of cooking videos online and can’t think off too many searches on YouTube in which a “Food Wishes” video is not front and center. For every Chef John fanatic missing his show and pressing F5 rapidly to refresh his page, there are 100 new people discovering his videos every day. The fact that some folks are actually so angry they mildly told him off is a testament to how good he is. You can’t lose Chef - take 2 weeks :)
