Goodbye Mom

My mother, Pauline, passed away on Mothers Day. It was peaceful, and she was surrounded by family. She was the youngest 83 year-old you’d ever want to meet. I don’t have the time or energy to write a long, thoughtful post, but I did want to let you know what was going on, and how much I appreciate all the kind words, and expressions of support. It means more than you’ll ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. She was a great woman, and we all loved her very much. She will be missed.

My sincerest condolences. I hope you and your family are ok. As someone who lost my mother in my early 20s, I can say that the greatest gift you have given her is your happiness and I'm sure she must have left this world a very proud mama to have such a successful and good humoured son. Please take care.

Hi Chef John. I have been watching your videos for a while and I really enjoy them. I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I understand how you feel. God's word has some comforting promises about the future hope we have. Revelation 21:4 says: "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." We won't have to worry about any of the problems mankind faces today. Even death will be eliminated and we will be able to see our dead loved ones again. We can be confident that this will happen because God cannot and will not lie. I hope this helps you and your family and friends cope with your loss.

Dear Chef John,
We are very sorry for the loss of your mother. You mean so much to us, not only in cooking, but in the lessons of life,
When my mother died, when she had all of her children were around her, she could finally let go.
It is hard to grasp at that loss, and only time can give you some distance between the event and who you now are. Take the time to be reflective on what your mother means, now, to you, Be the person you want to be.
With greatest love,
John.

My condolences to you, and to your family, Chef John.

I get so much from FoodWishes, for which I am grateful. When love and food come together in a shared meal, it is magical. I suspect this was a common experience for you growing up, as evidenced by your joy and passion in sharing your knowledge and skills with us.

Having shared my kitchen with you as often as I have, I feel like I know you, though of course it has been one-way communication. Regardless, please take time; we'll browse the older posts until the day (and it will come) you get the itch to make a new video, and add to your Mum's legacy.

My thoughts are with you.
