My mother, Pauline, passed away on Mothers Day. It was peaceful, and
she was surrounded by family. She was the youngest 83 year-old you’d ever want to meet. I don’t have the time or energy to write a long,
thoughtful post, but I did want to let you know what was going on, and how much
I appreciate all the kind words, and expressions of support. It means more than
you’ll ever know. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. She was a great woman, and we all loved her very much. She will be missed.

Hi Chef John. I have been watching your videos for a while and I really enjoy them. I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. I understand how you feel. God's word has some comforting promises about the future hope we have. Revelation 21:4 says: "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." We won't have to worry about any of the problems mankind faces today. Even death will be eliminated and we will be able to see our dead loved ones again. We can be confident that this will happen because God cannot and will not lie. I hope this helps you and your family and friends cope with your loss.

I would like to clarify a statement I made in an earlier post. I am only 19 years old and I don't understand exactly how it feels to lose a mom. However, I know how I've felt when those I love have died. I sympathize with the feelings you may be experiencing. What has helped me is what I shared in my earlier post.
In our jounery to be a proffesional chef, we really live on our childhood culinally memory, literally tastes of all dishes Mom made for us. Good bye is always bitter sweet, but please take enough of your time to get yourself back, Chef John. We all love you.

I get so much from FoodWishes, for which I am grateful. When love and food come together in a shared meal, it is magical. I suspect this was a common experience for you growing up, as evidenced by your joy and passion in sharing your knowledge and skills with us.
