Your Next Meal Could Be Your Last... Enjoy!

I'm all for food safety, but this video from New Mexico State University takes a good idea a bit too far. Maybe I'm just bitter they've now ruined two of my favorite Queen songs, but I'm not sure the "they might kill you" chorus is the best approach.

The Youtube page where I found this video states, "The animations were produced at New Mexico State University as part of USDA CSREES National Integrated Food Safety Initiative Project Number CD-D-FST-7057-CG." After watching, I said to myself, "That was sooo USDA CSREES National Integrated Food Safety Initiative Project Number CD-D-FST-7057-CG!"

Yes, that was the longest 4:36 of my life!

That was horrible and had to have been longer than 4minutes. Seemed like 10.

Also, bacteria has got a bad rap! Without bacteria there would be no beer, wine, cheese, or bread!!! People need to give bacteria a break.

(Mind you, this is not an argument to be a slob and eat everything raw.)

Hooray for my alma mater. Sigh.

The longest 4:36 of your life and you still felt the need to share. Gee thanks.

And they dragged Lord of the Rings through the mud as well.

I made it to 1:03 and was forced to quit because my ears were bleeding - having nothing to do with microbes of any sort. Damn! That was bad!

Here's a better song for you:

"Do you know what's in the water that you drink?
Well I do, and it's amazing
People think I'm crazy, 'cause I worry all the time
If you paid attention, you'd be worried too
You better pay attention
Or this world we love so much might just kill you
I could be wrong now, but I don't think so
It's a jungle out there"

It's the current Monk theme. We who are CDO are losing our hero after this year. I'd sniff, but it's so unhygenic...

Give a listen!

An an animation / film major, this was the most torturous, most boring film I've ever seen! I can do a better job, and I"m a student! Somebody needs to shoot the people who came up with the idea for this film!

LOTR teaching about microbes... BAH! :P

@K S Randall:

To be fair, the people who produced this were probably students too, and specifically probably NOT animation students. At least when I was a student there, their art department was extremely limited and the only "animation" class I was aware of was actually in the computer science department (because COMPUTERS).

Well, at least we still have "Fat Bottomed Girls" unsullied...as it were. I think these guys should have at least hired someone from the music department to do the voice. Yikes. This geek could almost (may I stress almost) do better. I grew up in Albuquerque in the 70s, a fact I'm rather embarrassed to admit right now but for fluffy who bravely admitted to being an Aggie.

LOL. We are The Microbes! I love it. Even if I'm almost a year past due in stating so. (Should I have maybe said, "*DUE TO BEING ABLE TO* state so nearly one year later."? Probably.)

Chef John, thank you for weeks of nightly entertainment (past and future) and for being a positive force in this world.

Oh, and, food porn is wrong. Especially when it's near 4 a.m. and I need rest. (It's the weekend. No kids. No pets. I'm responsible for this wild behavior.)
