Hello from Seattle! Running off to get ready for the opening reception of the 2010 International Food Bloggers Conference, but I thought some of you may enjoy this quick and dirty (but very tasty) video recipe I did for cooking salmon with a hotel room coffee kit.
Please, do not try this at home!! Enjoy!

You are a NUT! :-) Who else in this world...
You are amazing! lol Seriously, your salmon looks delicious. They should be showing your video on the big screen at the conference so all of the foodies in attendance can learn how to cook salmon in their hotel coffee makers!
Enjoy our fair city! Wish I were at the conference.
As they say, necessity is the mother of invention. You see that yummy salmon and are desperate to have some...how can I do this...LIGHTBULB! Looks yummy.
Very creative, but didn't your hotel room have a microwave oven in it, all the hotels I stay at have microwaves. You could have put it in foil and used the iron to heat it up too, like you did in one video you made also.
Looks good.
There are one million reasons why, and this is just one of them, that I honestly and sincerely Love You!
This is awesome! I can't wait to try it myself one day. What a GREAT idea! I'm duly impressed.
not only are you an amazing cooking teacher, your video, photographic and video editing skills are equally amazing!
Chef John forgive for being only a repeat of the previews commentators. You are absolutely AMAZING!!! My taste loves you. I hope you enjoy your stay in Seattle!
That's amazing, perhaps I will try this at some point. :) It really does look delicious!
Innovation using what is at hand. The sign of a great cook.
Proof of just how awesome you are!
Did I ever tell you you're brilliant? Ok you're brilliant. It's official!
PS Belated congrats on the Food Network contest! I can't wait until your interview, you will CRUSH it!!!!
I checked out the market on my one and only trip to Seattle so far. What an amazing place. It just goes on and on. It must be one of the largest permanent markets, if not the largest. It almost makes me want to live there - almost. If you had made yourself one of those hotel iron grilled cheese sandwiches you could have had a whole meal.
John, you are a madman !! I love the survivalist salmon !
how many times have you cooked in your hotel room - with or without a kitchen? ahahaha! you're the only person i know who does this. if not all, most of the time. love it!
You are SO creative. I knew thought of cooking salmon in a cup. Genius! By the way, I love your blog :)
You are absolutely freakin' brilliant! I was grinning from ear to ear, watching you cook salmon in your hotel room! Love it!
You are officially the coolest person I know, & I know a lot of people. : ) I was so proud of my mostly lukewarm & melted butter 'grilled cheese on an iron" back in college, but you've brought it to a whole new level. Awesome.
It's been said over and over, but this is the reason I love your site!!!
The salmon looked soooo tasty mmmm..!
Dorothea
What a knee-slapper! To heck with the hotel, I'm trying this at home! (Can I make bouillabaisse the same way?)
I noticed you had wild sockeye salmon wild caught and watching the video made me hungry. I agree that a good salmon needs only few minutes and very little elaboration.
I also liked the other recipe - the one you did in your hotel's fireplace (complete with a tart plum cake!)
So take *that*, Alton Brown and your cardboard box smoker!
I'm waiting for John to make creme brule with a hair dryer. This is pretty good.
I read the menu for the conference; looks like you will be eating well :)
