I've been falling a little behind on my Mercedes payments, and the jacuzzi in the servants quarters at the summer home needs a little work, so I had to redesign the blog to allow for more advertising space.
These are only aesthetic changes, and will not affect the confusing, awkward navigation you've grown to love. Over the next few days, if you see any weirdness, visually or otherwise, do not be alarmed. Thanks!

I find the new background of figs almost pr0n-like in its lusciousness. I hope you keep it for awhile!
(speaking of sexy, I just got some fine-lookin' calimyrna figs--I'll be making your bruschetta soon!)
The new redesign looks great. Big improvement.
The look is ....well, could be considered better. I dont. But the simple scrolling is a nightmare! And my system is average to good!
As for add space, thumbs up!
I liek
I love the new look! Amazing work!
LOVE the site... love the picture
Holy website redesign, Batman!
I'm with Espresso Style up there, it looks nice but scrolls slowly, at least with Firefox 3.6.8.
i'm using Firefox 3.6.8. also and it scrolls just as fast as the last design. Anyone have any ideas why?
maybe it's the connection speed? Im on a comcast cable modem.
i just redid the background image at a much lower res. Is there any difference? (clear you cache first)
Looks great - works fast for me (Safari browser / ISP Comcast). No problems scrolling or playing videos. I like the look, a lot!
Chef:
Scrolling with the scroll bar seems a bit better but still a bit jerky, which I like when it's beef but not so much when it comes to web pages. Scrolling with the arrow keys is painfully slow.
I'm not sure it's connection speed.
The page loads fairly quickly for me.
I watched the connection with WireShark (a network monitoring tool) and didn't see any traffic on the line when I was scrolling.
The videos play fine, at least at the lower resolution. At 480p sometimes the playback will stall momentarily, which I expect, since I'm on a relatively slow line (1.5 MBit down, 0.25 MBit up ADSL for technical reasons I won't bore you with).
I honestly think most viewing/user problems that some are having are individual, not site generated. I have not experienced any difference from what it was before your makeover. If it's not happening for everyone then the likelihood of the site causing the problem is almost nil. Sorry to those who are having problems, but Chef John, please get back to the stove. Your site works! Wonderfully! No further adjustments necessary!
LOVE it!! Scrolls fine for me in FF
You do know that you can remove the Blogger bar at the top of your page right? Just add this bit of code to the beginning of your html code.
#navbar-iframe {
height:0px;
visibility:hidden;
display:none;
}
To be honest I preferred the earlier design :(
Simple designs are more aesthetically appealing for me.
The background looks pixelated on my 28inch monitor, scrolling is a little jerky, and the redesign imho creates a spammy, myspace kind of look....
Personal preferences I guess...
